My photographic journey began in the early 1990s - initially as a self-taught photographer, driven by the desire to capture landscapes and journeys in pictures. What began as a curious discovery developed over the years into a deeper exploration of photography as an artistic expression. In 2007, studio and nude photography opened up a new field for me, which taught me to understand the interplay of light, body and space as a visual language. In 2011 I took my first steps into self-employment and since 2025 I have dedicated myself entirely to my artistic work as a visual media artist and curator.
In my freelance projects, I pursue two main focuses: model photography, which I realise almost exclusively in black and white, and travel photography, which I mainly realise in colour. This juxtaposition is a conscious artistic decision for me - black and white as a reduction to form, expression and emotion, colour as a reflection of the diversity and vibrancy of the world. In the corporate environment, I also create event documentaries and produce visual content with the help of generative AI, which I see as a contemporary tool for creative image production.
In addition to my own artistic work, I am committed to strengthening photography in society. In 2017, I founded FotoForumForchheim (FoFoFo), a non-profit association for the promotion and visualisation of artistic photography, of which I am still chairman today. Since 2018, I have been part of the international photography team ‘Atlas of Humanity’, which documents the ethnic diversity of our world in pictures. I also accompany the photo festivals ‘Fotopark Forchheim’ and ‘Pirmasenser Fototage’ as artistic director. In addition, I pass on my knowledge as a photo trainer. My work can be seen in exhibitions at home and abroad.
Meine fotografische Reise begann in den frühen 1990er-Jahren – zunächst als Autodidakt, getragen von der Sehnsucht, Landschaften und Reisen in Bildern festzuhalten. Was als neugieriges Entdecken begann, entwickelte sich über die Jahre zu einer immer tieferen Auseinandersetzung mit der Fotografie als künstlerischem Ausdruck. 2007 öffnete sich mir mit der Studio- und Aktfotografie ein neues Feld, das mich lehrte, das Zusammenspiel von Licht, Körper und Raum als visuelle Sprache zu verstehen. 2011 wagte ich die ersten Schritte in die Selbstständigkeit und seit 2025 widme ich mich als Visual Media Artist und Kurator ganz meiner künstlerischen Arbeit.
In meinen freien Projekten verfolge ich zwei Schwerpunkte: die Modelfotografie, die ich fast ausschließlich in Schwarzweiß umsetze, und die Reisefotografie, die ich überwiegend in Farbe realisiere. Diese Gegenüberstellung ist für mich eine bewusste künstlerische Entscheidung – Schwarzweiß als Reduktion auf Form, Ausdruck und Emotion, Farbe als Spiegel der Vielfalt und Lebendigkeit der Welt. Im Corporate-Umfeld erstelle ich zudem u.a. Eventdokumentationen und produziere visuelle Inhalte mit Hilfe generativer KI, die ich als zeitgenössisches Werkzeug kreativer Bildproduktion verstehe.
Neben meiner eigenen künstlerischen Arbeit engagiere ich mich für die Stärkung der Fotografie im kollektiven Raum. 2017 gründete ich das FotoForumForchheim (FoFoFo), einen gemeinnützigen Verein zur Förderung und Sichtbarmachung künstlerischer Fotografie, dessen Vorsitzender ich bis heute bin. Seit 2018 bin ich Teil des internationalen Fotografenteams „Atlas of Humanity“, das die ethnische Vielfalt unserer Welt in Bildern dokumentiert. Zudem begleite ich als künstlerischer Leiter die Fotofestivals „Fotopark Forchheim“ und „Pirmasenser Fototage“. Außerdem gebe ich mein Wissen als Fototrainer weiter. Meine Arbeiten sind in Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland zu sehen.
